Company Description Heavy Equipment Repair is a large, multi-service facility located in Slave Lake, Northern Alberta, supporting the forestry, oil, and natural gas industries. The company operates over 50,000 sq. ft. of shop space dedicated to long-haul and construction equipment repair, machining, welding and fabrication, and parts services. Its welding and metal fabrication capabilities include advanced processes such as MIG, TIG, stick, stainless steel, and aluminum welding, as well as rolling, forming, bending, shearing, and computerized steel cutting up to 8" thick.

Repair also provides extensive machine shop services, including CNC machining and high-definition plasma cutting, and is a government vehicle inspection station and OEM warranty depot. Having grown from a single service truck, the company is now one of the largest truck and equipment repair shops in northern Alberta.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Welder role based in Slave Lake, AB. The Welder will perform structural and fabrication welding on heavy equipment, components, and custom projects using multiple welding processes. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings, preparing and fitting metal parts, performing quality welds, and inspecting completed work for accuracy and safety.





The role involves working with shop equipment for cutting, forming, and finishing metal, collaborating with mechanics and machinists on repair and rebuild projects, and following all safety procedures and industry standards. The Welder will also help maintain tools and equipment, support continuous improvement in fabrication practices, and contribute to a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

- Robust proficiency in Welding and Arc Welding for heavy equipment repair and fabrication.
- Hands-on experience with MIG Welding and TIG Welding for structural, stainless steel, and aluminum work.
- Solid understanding of Materials, including properties of steel, alloys, and appropriate filler metals.
- Relevant welding trade certification or ticket (e.g., Journeyperson Welder, CWB or equivalent) preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Experience working in industrial, heavy equipment, or construction repair environments is an asset.
- Commitment to safety, including use of PPE, adherence to shop procedures, and safe operation of tools and equipment.
- Physical ability to perform manual work, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in varied shop conditions.
