Their role is to quickly prioritize, and accurately process calls to ensure police and public safety, resulting in safer communities. A 9-1-1 police dispatcher has two primary roles:Call Taking: Answering calls from the publicDispatching: Directing police officers to respond to a specific location or eventIntent of the process"The immediate need is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff temporary and/or permanent positions, (including term, acting appointments and assignments). This pool may also be used to staff similar positions, with various language and security requirements.
