OpportunityWe are in search of an enthusiastic and energetic Summer Day Camp 1:1 Support Leaders to provide support, and assistance with the physical, social, and emotional skill development of a child who requires extra support. Reporting to the Summer Camp Coordinator and Camp Supervisors, successful candidates will have experience working with children with extra support needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to spend your summer outdoors: exploring local parks, beaches, and community spaces, while creating fun and memorable experiences with children.ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with a child that needs extra support to ensure a successful Summer Day Camp experience, including guiding the child’s behaviour, and encouraging and assisting the child to participate in activities to the best of their ability.Develops and implements developmentally appropriate activities and experiences.Works with Supported Child Development to acquire resources for children requiring extra support.Completes Monthly Support Time sheets.Reviews and implements Care Plans for children requiring extra support.Ensures the child’s environment is healthy and secure.Ensures positive communication with children and families.Contributes to the ongoing operation of the Summer Day Camp program.Performs other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Program Manager as needed.Required QualificationsMust be at least 19 years old.Training or experience related to guiding challenging behaviour or working with children who need extra support.Ideally one or more of the following: A School Age Care certificate, Education Assistant Certificate or a 20 Hour Responsible Adult training certificate.A minimum of 3 months’ experience in a similar environment.A current safety oriented first aid and CPR certificate (minimum 8-hour course).A clear criminal record check.Contract DetailsSalary Range:$21.50per hour.EmploymentThis position works full-time only during the weeks the child requiring support attends summer camp, ranging from a minimum of 1 week to a maximum of 9 weeks.
