Position Overview: At Beacon College Prep, we believe every scholar deserves access to rigorous, joyful, and data-driven instruction that leads to academic mastery. The Academic Interventionist, Literacy plays a critical role in accelerating reading outcomes for scholars who require additional support. This role is responsible for delivering targeted, high-quality literacy intervention aligned to Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, grounded in data, and tightly connected to core instruction. The Academic Interventionist ensures scholars build strong foundational reading skills – including phonics, fluency, and comprehension – to reach and exceed grade-level expectations.In alignment with Beacon’s strategic priority to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, this role also works collaboratively with instructional leaders and teachers to reinforce core literacy practices and reduce long-term reliance on intervention. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Targeted Literacy InterventionDeliver daily small-group and individualized reading intervention aligned to scholar needs (phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing).Implement structured, research-based literacy strategies aligned to Beacon’s instructional approach (CKLA, Wit & Wisdom, and foundational skills).Plan and execute intervention cycles with clear goals, progress monitoring, and adjustments based on data.Provide high-dosage, high-impact instruction that accelerates scholar growth toward grade-level proficiency.Data-Driven Instruction & Progress MonitoringAnalyze aimsWeb, i-Ready, and internal assessment data to identify skill gaps and group scholars effectively.Progress monitor scholars regularly and adjust instruction in real time to ensure growth.Maintain accurate and organized intervention data, trackers,



and documentation.Collaborate with the scholar support team and instructional leaders to ensure fidelity of RTI² implementation.Alignment to Core Instruction (Tier 1)Collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to ensure intervention is aligned—not siloed—from Tier 1 instruction.Reinforce key standards, skills, and content from core curriculum during intervention blocks.Support teachers in identifying high-leverage instructional moves to reduce future intervention needs.Scholar Support & CultureBuild strong, trusting relationships with scholars to foster confidence, engagement, and ownership of learning.Create a learning environment that is structured, rigorous, and joyful, with explicit routines and high expectations.Reinforce Beacon’s school-wide culture systems, including behavior expectations and transitions.Collaboration & Professional GrowthParticipate actively in weekly coaching, PLCs, and professional development, implementing feedback with urgency.Collaborate with the Director of Scholar Support (DOSS), Co-Principals, and teachers to ensure cohesive scholar support plans.Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress, strategies, and next steps.Job QualificationsBachelor’s degree requiredValid Tennessee Teaching License required; candidates without licensure must demonstrate significant experience in literacy instruction and a commitment to obtaining licensureTwo years of teaching experienceStrong background in early literacy and/or reading interventionExperience with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring toolsDemonstrated ability to accelerate student achievement in a small-group settingStrong organizational skills and attention to detailCommitment to Beacon’s mission and belief in all scholars’ ability to achieve at high levelsSalary & BenefitsThe Academic Interventionist, Literacy position offers a competitive salary starting at $50,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
