The Human Resource Coordinator, reporting directly to the Executive Director, is the link between Conayt Friendship Society’s management and its employees. The Human Resource Coordinators workspans from providing consultation on strategic planning with the Executive Director and department managers to recruiting, interviewing and hiring current staff; supporting, coaching and mentoringmanagers and supervisors with human resource related matters including interpretation and administration of HR policy and procedures; employee appraisal and discipline; and employee developmentand improvement plans. The Human Resource Coordinator administers the Employee Group Benefit and Registered Pension plan; completes employee onboarding; and prepares and updates Human Resourcepolicies and procedures for management review and approval.The Human Resource Coordinators services include:Implementing and revising a company’s compensation programCreating and revising job descriptionsConducting annual salary surveys and reviews to keep the organization pay scales currentDeveloping, analyzing, and updating the organization chartDeveloping, analyzing and updating the company’s evaluation programDeveloping, revising, and recommending personnel policies and proceduresMaintaining affirmative action programsOverseeing recruitment efforts for all personnel,
including writing and placing job adsConducting new employee orientations and employee relations counselingMaintaining department records and reportsParticipating in administrative and other department staff meetings as neededMaintaining company directory and other organizational chartsRecommending new policies, approaches, and proceduresAdminister employee benefit program including obtaining quotations from suppliers; negotiating terms;and assisting employees with benefit claimsMay assist department managers and/or Joint Health and Safety Committee, and/or the Safety Coordinator with development and management of Occupational Health and Safety Programs for ConaytFriendship SocietyProvide human resource management support, coaching and mentoring to department managers including assisting with the application of disciplinary policy, vacation and leave policies, andemployee relationsAssist managers with the development of employee workplans and performance improvement plansMonitor relevant labour codes and legislation for updates, make recommendations for changes to Conayt Friendship Society’s Human Resource Policy to ensure compliance with new and/or updatedcodes and regulationsWorks with the Society’s HR consultants to assist in investigationsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS· 5-7 years experience in a similar position· Diploma in Business Management / Human Resource Management Major; or equivalent educationand training· Human Resources Designation an asset· Experience in a First Nations environment,· Good Supervisory skills· Excellent verbal and written communication skills· Excellent analytical and organizational skills to achieve desired results· Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people· Possess strong computer skills using MS Office software· Ability to work in a team orientated environment· Flexibility is necessary to adapt to changing work priorities· Excellent judgement and problem-solving skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS· Those normally associated with a typical office environment.
