OverviewOur Substation group is currently looking to add aCommercial Specialistto our growing team, based in Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; or Toronto, ON.Reporting to the Vice President of Substations and Renewables, we are seeking a skilled skilled with in-depth experience in commercial contract management, negotiations, project controls, and risk. The successful candidate will support the contractual and financial aspects of our construction projects, ensuring profitability, compliance, and risk mitigation.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the full contract lifecycle, from tendering to execution, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standardsWork closely with estimating, project management, legal, finance, and operations teams to drive commercial successDraft, review, interpret and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to safeguard the company's interestsIdentify potential risks in contracts and projects (including financial, legal, and operational risks), developing mitigation strategies to minimize impactsEnsure Change Management protocols are established during execution and supported throughout the contractSupport project team with validation of incoming change requests and subcontractor notices, where requiredProvide risk management support related to forecasting, scheduling, and performance evaluationConduct financial evaluations of projects, analyzing budgets, forecasts, and cash flows to optimize profitabilityUse analytics to assess financial data, track project performance, and enhance business insights for informed decision-makingLead claims and disputes activities, ensuring fair outcomes and minimizing financial exposureTravel to conferences, tradeshows and internal / external stakeholder meetings as neededRequirementsPost‑Secondary Education in a related field (i.E. engineering,
