Hematologist, Department of MedicineThe position is within Mackenzie Health, a busy GTA hospital serving a population of more than 500,000. The role supports the outpatient Oncology clinic at Richmond Hill and the Transfusion Medicine Program at the corresponding site.The successful candidate will join a team of six general medical oncologists and two hematologists (benign/malignant) to provide high‑quality, comprehensive clinical services. This position has a 0.6 FTE fee‑for‑service component for benign hematology patient care and a 0.4 FTE annual salary component of $120,000 for oversight of the Transfusion Medicine Program.The PositionResponsibilities include running at least two benign hematology clinics per week, participating in the dedicated Thrombosis Clinic, and performing inpatient hematology consults (benign/malignant) at both sites on a rotating schedule. Hematologists provide only consultation services under the hospitalist inpatient care model and are required to round on the Medicine ward approximately one weekend every 8‑12 weeks.The role offers direct medical involvement in the Transfusion Medicine Laboratory Program.SpecificallyResponsible for the overall conduct of transfusion practice at Mackenzie Health.Ensure that Transfusion Medicine service policies and procedures meet all regulatory and accreditation requirements and align with clinical practice obligations.Available to provide support and consultation for urgent matters (clinical, technical, administrative) during regular and after‑hour periods.Supervise physicians covering the Transfusion Medicine service.Approve blood component and product inventory requirements to meet clinical program needs while minimizing wastage.Chair the Transfusion Committee and lead development of clinical practice guidelines.In collaboration with laboratory leadership and the Chief of Laboratory Medicine,
