OverviewChild and Family Services Temp Merritt, BC $29.17 - $33.49 CAD per hourThe Family Support Worker supports families, youth, and children within multiple program settings based on the employee’s skillset and fit. Programs include:ResponsibilitiesDeliver family-centered support in various settings, teaching parenting, communication, problem-solving, and life skillsAdvocate for the rights and well-being of individuals and familiesAssess strengths, needs, and family dynamics to inform service plansCollaborate with families and stakeholders (e.G., MCFD) to set realistic goals and interventionsCoordinate and consult with care teams to support goal achievementMonitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust support as neededProvide follow-up support and connect clients to community resourcesBuild and strengthen formal and informal support networksRespond effectively to crisis situations, assess risk, and support stabilizationEducation, Training, and ExperienceDegree (preferred) or Diploma in Human or Social Service or other related field - A degree is an asset.1-year recent relevant experience working with families, youth, and children facing multiple barriers.Or a combination of education, training, and experience.Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge and strong abilities to:Build strong, trusting relationships with clients, families, and care teamsApply evidence-based approaches to support individuals facing mental health, addiction, and violence-related challengesFacilitate engaging group sessions and life skills developmentSupport emotional regulation, coping strategies,



and positive behaviour changeEffectively manage crisis situations and challenging behavioursCommunicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; advocate for client needsMaintain clear, accurate documentation and confidentialityWork both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentDemonstrate cultural sensitivity and inclusivity across diverse backgroundsProficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to recent technologiesRequirementsValid Class 5 Driver’s license and safe driving recordOwn vehicle with Business Use and third-party liability insurance of $5 million (reimbursement is provided).Ability to travel to the surrounding areas identified within our contractsFollowing training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: CPR-C, Mandt, SafeTALK, Safe Food Handling, MCFD Privacy, Anti-Bullying, Abuse and Neglect Awareness training and Harassment.A background check through the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General is required.This job requires union membership with a 1.85% union dues deduction from pay.BenefitsSelection between two options for paid leaves:Option 1:10.6% additional pay with every paycheckOROption 2:Vacation accrual at 3 weeks per year (6%) and a stat holiday bank (5% of worked hours).Fully paid job requirement training and opportunities for professional developmentInterior Community Services is a Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) employer.



Temporary part-time employees' entitlement to MPP is determined after 2 years of continuous service in the role.
