Indigenous candidates may be eligible for an exception to this arrangement; alternative arrangements may also be considered to accommodate candidates as required.Role OverviewWe are looking for a senior-career Industrial Technology Advisor (ITA) to support the NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). The ITA should share our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity, and have a passion for helping innovative Canadian companies grow and prosper.Responsibilities- Provide advisory services to small and medium‑size enterprises (SMEs) to accelerate their growth through commercialization of innovation.- Act as trusted advisor and mentor, helping clients navigate technical or business hurdles, providing important linkages, identifying recent opportunities, and facilitating the evolution and success of their businesses.QualificationsEducationPost‑secondary degree in Science or Engineering in a discipline related to the position from a recognized university.Alternatively,
a combination of a post‑secondary degree in another field with significant work experience relevant to the position will be considered.Preference may be given to candidates with a complementary degree or diploma in business, management, administration, finance or marketing.ExperienceRecent and extensive industrial business experience as an entrepreneur or senior manager in one or more of the following technological domains:Oil and gasForestryMiningMarine engineeringEnvironmental engineeringRecent and extensive private‑sector experience in developing and commercializing innovative products or services, with demonstrable outcomes.Experience in international business development and/or intellectual property management would be considered an asset.Recent is defined as within the last 3 years.Condition of EmploymentReliability status: background verification over a period of 5 years is required.Must be able to travel locally, nationally and/or internationally.A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.Language RequirementsEnglishAssessment CriteriaTechnical CompetenciesBasic knowledge of NRC‑IRAP’s mandate, mission and business model.Solid knowledge of SME business management,

Compensation will be determined based on candidate expertise and experience relative to the level.
