First Nation Representative (4 Positions)First Nation Representative ServicesWiikwemkoong Child and Family Services is seeking (4) qualified individuals to fill the position of First Nation Representative. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Child and Family Services oversees and advocates for child and family matters by following the principals and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards. This will ensure the services are culturally appropriate to support the community’s children and families in alignment with Anishnaabe values and practices. The First Nation Representative will report directly to the Supervisor – First Nation Representative Services.ResponsibilitiesRepresent the First Nation’s interests in child welfare matters by providing culturally grounded, child-focused, and family-centered services.Conduct child protection investigations, assess risk and safety, support families through case planning and reunification efforts, and ensure compliance with provincial child welfare legislation and court requirements.Provide ongoing support to children and youth in care, coordinate services to meet their physical, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs, and work collaboratively with families, community partners, and service providers.Participate in case reviews, family conferences, and alternative dispute resolution processes, maintain accurate and confidential records, prepare legal and administrative documentation,



and contribute to team-based service delivery.Engage in ongoing professional development, ethical practice, and respectful relationship-building.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in social work or a related social services field.Minimum four (4) years’ experience working with children, youth, and families in a social service setting.Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices, with familiarity with services in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory.Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills to effectively engage diverse families.Ability to manage multiple cases independently while working collaboratively within a team workplace.Experience using case management systems (Caseworks preferred).Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.Commitment to equity, inclusion, cultural safety, and professionalism.Must be able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.Salary and BenefitsSalary: $83,851.
