The HCA provides paraprofessional services to assist frail, physically disabled, and/or mentally challenged clients of all ages to remain in their own homes as long as safely possible.ExperiencePrevious experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred.Previous experience working in a home care program is an asset.EducationGrade 12 education required.Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post‑secondary institute.Certifications / LicensureNot ApplicableQualifications And SkillsKnowledge of Protected Food Handling.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Ability to apply critical thinking skills.Respect and promote a culturally diverse population.Proficiency in both official languages (bilingual).Respect confidentiality in all formats.Good work and attendance record.Valid Class 5 driver’s licence; all‑purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.Must complete and maintain satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check; candidate responsible for any service charges incurred.Physical RequirementsAbility to meet physical and mental demands of the job.No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.May work evenings and weekends occasionally.May need to travel to other regional facilities as required.Other InformationApplicants may request reasonable accommodation related to the materials or activities used throughout the selection process.Southern Health‑Santé Sud, in partnership with Indigenous communities, is committed to increasing the representation of Indigenous people within all levels of our workforce.
