Job InformationJob Title: Manager, Innovation Agency GovernanceJob Requisition ID: 83183Ministry: Technology and InnovationLocation: EdmontonHours of Work: 36.25 hours per weekClassification: Manager Zone 2Salary: $3,920.66 to $5,276.07 bi-weekly ( $102,329 - $137,705 per year )Scope: Open CompetitionClosing Date: May 13, 2026OverviewTechnology and Innovation is responsible for making innovation and technology the driving force behind Alberta’s economic growth and diversification.The Innovation, Privacy, and Stewardship division is accountable for the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy (ATIS) and manages innovation programs, governance, and protection of personal information.Within the IPS division, the Innovation, Partnerships and Governance Branch supports Alberta’s innovators, researchers, businesses, and entrepreneurs by delivering programs and investments that drive economic growth.The Innovation Strategy and Governance unit provides strategic oversight and governance of key provincial innovation bodies, including Alberta Enterprise Corporation and Alberta Innovates.Role ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director, Innovation Strategy and Governance, the Manager leads agency governance and accountability for Alberta's two primary innovation agencies, ensuring legislative compliance and delivery of mandates.Responsible for advancing innovation strategies across government and informing decision‑making under the ATIS.Review agency business plans and annual reports to ensure compliance with legislation and policy.Advise senior agency leaders on governance,
accountability and government direction.Oversee compliance with funding agreement deliverables and reporting requirements.Lead the development of operating grants and transfer agreements with partners across government.Support the implementation and monitoring of provincial innovation strategies.Work with the Public Agency Secretariat to apply governance best practices.Lead and develop staff while driving practical adoption of AI tools across the team.QualificationsA university degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Science, Humanities, supplemented by five years of progressively responsible related experience.Knowledge of Alberta’s innovation and commercialization ecosystem.Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to manage complex and politically sensitive initiatives.Stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across government bodies or partners.People leadership experience, including managing and developing a team.Cover letter that clearly demonstrates relevant skills and competencies.Minimum of four years of related experience with a related master’s degree; or a two‑year diploma with seven years of related experience; or a one‑year certificate with eight years; or nine years of related experience in lieu of formal education.AssetsExperience with governance frameworks or overseeing agencies or Crown corporations.Experience measuring, evaluating and reporting on outcomes and impact.Experience developing and implementing performance measurement frameworks, logic models and related plans.Knowledge of social research methods including qualitative and quantitative analysis, statistics and data management.Employment DetailsTerm of Employment: Permanent, Full‑time position.Hours of Work: 7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday.Location: Commerce Place | 10155 102 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 4G8.Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.This competition may be used to fill future vacancies across the Government of Alberta at the same or lower classification level.#J-18808-Ljbffr
