HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated, standardized provincial services at 37 clinical sites located in 26 communities. The role supports autistic children and their families and may include services within the Provincial Preschool Autism Service such as Intensive Services, Focused Interventions, Early Start Denver Model, QuickStart Nova Scotia, HSNS Communication Services, and Foundational Education.



The position reports to the assigned Manager. Scheduling will be determined upon hire.RequirementsMaster's Degree in Speech‑Language PathologyNova Scotia College of Audiologists & Speech‑Language Pathologists licensure or eligibility for licensureEffective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English (additional documentation required if English is not first language)Flexibility to provide evening/weekend servicesFlexibility to travel for continuing education, events, and meetingsCurrent immunization and/or booster documentation at the end of the probationary periodRecent experience with preschool speech and language assessment and treatmentFamiliarity with a variety of pediatric service delivery optionsKnowledge of best practices in assessment and early intervention for young children with developmental disabilities, especially autismDemonstrated commitment to family‑centered careFlexibility to support outreach/parachute servicesValid Nova Scotia driver’s license and reliable vehicle accessAssetsTwo years of experience with children with autismTwo years of clinical experience in the last five years with alternative and augmentative communication systemsExperience with off‑site/home‑based delivery modelsExperience working with interprofessional teams and/or supportive personnelTelepractice service delivery experienceCaregiver training and/or coaching experienceTraining in Pivotal Response Treatment and Picture Exchange Communication SystemLived experience with a communication differenceAbility to start immediatelyAll offers of employment will be conditional upon results of a criminal records check/vulnerable sector search and child abuse registry search satisfactory to the employer.
