We operate at high velocity, high scale, and high standards — and we're building systems meant to last.ROLE OVERVIEWWe are looking for an experienced Controller to own and build the accounting function at Punt. This is a hands-on leadership role at the center of our finance team, responsible for establishing robust financial foundations, improving reporting accuracy, and scaling our systems and processes as the business grows.This role reports to the VP, Finance — partnering directly on building out the finance function — and will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable. You will act as the backbone of the finance function, ensuring that our financial data is accurate, timely, and reliable for decision-making.In the near term, your focus will be on stabilizing and improving the close process, cleaning up existing financial structures to enable meaningful budget-to-actual variance analysis, and leading our transition away from QuickBooks to a modern ERP. Over time, you will expand into management reporting, financial insights, and broader finance leadership responsibilities as the company scales.This is not a maintenance role — it is a building role. You will have meaningful ownership of how the finance function is designed and a direct path to growing in scope as Punt scales.WHAT YOU'LL DOAccounting & CloseOwn the full-cycle accounting function including monthly and quarterly closeImprove and tighten the close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingClean up and restructure the chart of accounts, reconciliations,



and reporting workflowsSupervise Accounts Payable and manage day-to-day accounting operationsEstablish and document internal controls, policies, and procedures appropriate for a scaling B2C digital businessSystems & InfrastructureLead the selection and implementation of a current ERP/accounting system to replace QuickBooks (e.G., NetSuite)Design and implement scalable accounting processes and workflowsOwn system configuration, integrations, and financial data integrity across toolsBuild a finance infrastructure that supports continued growth and increasing complexityReporting & AnalysisDevelop management reporting to provide leadership with clear visibility into financial performanceSupport the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensure the close is structured to enable meaningful budget-to-actual variance analysisPartner with the VP, Finance on monthly variance analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and key insights from financial dataTranslate financial results into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholdersPartner with the VP, Finance to evolve into a trusted financial partner across the businessTeam & Cross-Functional LeadershipManage and develop the Accounts Payable function,



with the opportunity to grow the team as the business scalesPartner with leadership to improve financial discipline and decision-makingCollaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between finance and business operationsQUALIFICATIONS7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including time in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role2+ years in a supervisory or management capacityExperience in B2C digital businesses such as iGaming, fintech, payments, or e-commerce strongly preferredHands-on experience leading or meaningfully contributing to an ERP/accounting system implementationStrong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to operate in ambiguity and make sound judgment callsExperience building management reporting from scratch is a strong assetAdvanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; experience with financial modeling is a plusStrong communication skills with the ability to translate financial concepts for non-finance stakeholders and present to senior leadershipWHO YOU AREYou are energized by building, not maintaining — you enjoy creating structure in ambiguous environmentsYou are comfortable working with imperfect systems and see opportunities where others see problemsYou are detail-oriented but commercially minded, understanding the story behind the numbersYou operate independently and take ownership without needing a defined playbookYou communicate clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical audiencesYou are motivated to grow into a broader finance leadership role over timeWHY PUNTOpportunity to build and own the accounting function at a high-growth companyDirect exposure to and mentorship from senior leadershipA fast-paced, dynamic industry with meaningful impact on the businessCompetitive compensation ($130,000 – $160,000 CAD base plus bonus) with strong growth potential as the company scales#J-18808-Ljbffr
