Activities include instructional duties, professional development, service, and scholarly activity.Instructional duties: teaching assignments, course preparation and revision, development of new programs and delivery modes, evaluation of student work, laboratory instruction, student advising, curriculum development, material preparation, laboratory set up and maintenance, inventory control, procurement, prior learning assessment coordination, and other instruction‑related functions.Professional development: fostering teaching excellence, subject‑area competence, and technical proficiency in instructional contexts.Service: school visitations, membership on college or union committees, participation in professional or academic organizations, community outreach, articulation meetings, administrative duties, and representation of Okanagan College.Scholarly activity: scholarship, research, and creative endeavors that may require release from instructional duties.Education and ExperienceMinimum qualification is a Master’s degree (or equivalent). Candidates must have independent post‑secondary or public‑school teaching experience relevant to the discipline and graduate‑level training enabling sole responsibility for teaching undergraduate students.



Demonstrated learner‑centered teaching philosophy and an active scholarship profile are preferred.Skills and AbilitiesDesigns and teaches courses aligned with learning outcomes.Employs various instructional modes, including lecture, discussion, active student involvement, and laboratory work.Utilises appropriate technological aids in instruction.Opens to feedback to improve teaching and related activities.Possesses in‑depth knowledge of the subject area and can teach at a post‑secondary level.Maintains currency and vitality in discipline through professional activities, development, and/or scholarship.Engages in course and program development.Works collegially and constructively with others.Is comfortable in a computerized environment and with relevant instructional programs.Preferred QualificationsThe department offers teaching appointments for the 2026/2027 academic year in part‑time (1–2 courses) or full‑time (3 courses) per term. Successful candidates should have a foundational knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and preferably an industry background with teaching experience. A P.Eng. is an asset; individuals without a graduate degree may also be considered for this term‑based position.
