Senior Field Staff (Construction Services)Job DescriptionCurrent Rate of Pay: Min = $27.70/hr, Max = $32.10/hrEmployment type: PermanentHours of work: 40 hrs/weekWork location: Restoration Services CentreDivision: Restoration & InfrastructureBusiness unit: Construction ServicesTravel: 100%Flexible Work Arrangements: YesExisting Vacancy: YesAbout TRCA:With more than 60 years of experience, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario, created to safeguard and enhance the health and well-being of watershed communities through the protection and restoration of the natural environment and the ecological services the environment provides.How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:Senior Field Staff perform skilled/technical labour work and operation of equipment in support of construction, risk mitigation, habitat restoration and other environmental projects.Major Responsibilities:Provides general labour support for a range of construction and restoration services projects by performing duties such as installing fencing, signage, plant materials, and erosion control products/structuresAssists with providing guidance and training to junior staff on the day-to-day duties to ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient mannerPerforms checker/flagger and traffic control duties at various sites throughout TRCA’s jurisdictionAssists with site layout and drawing interpretation including laser level set up and operationAssists with the installation of various in-water works including but not limited to vegetative buttresses, pool-riffle sequences, bio-engineering techniquesAssists with the installation of engineered structures including but not limited to armour stone walls, vegetative rip rap buttress, mechanically stabilized earth wallsAssists in the construction of trails, ditches,



parking lots and various other construction projectsAssists with the implementation of Habitat Restoration projects including natural shoreline enhancement, natural channel treatments and wetland restoration.Participates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planningProvides mentorship to junior staff on the above-mentioned tasks, duties and others as assigned through thorough knowledge and experience in the fieldWhat will you need to succeed:Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)Completion of college diploma in Construction or a related field or equivalent experienceValid Class G2 driver’s licenseExperience1+ years of experience related to major responsibilitiesKnowledge/Skill/Ability - CompetenciesDemonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply engineering or landscape architectural plans, drawings, details and specificationsUnderstanding and application of basic mathematical functionsAble to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlinesKnowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and RegulationsGood interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member to coach staff and work with stakeholders (internally and externally); ability to deal tactfully and courteously with stakeholders, public officialsProficiency in MS Office for general office communications (I.E., mail, spreadsheet and word processing software,
