This role supports two lawyers and is ideally suited to someone with experience in criminal law matters, with a strong focus on independence, file ownership, and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day workflow management. The firm is also open to candidates with family law experience who are interested in expanding into criminal law. This is an excellent fit for a confident, experienced legal assistant who thrives in a structured, fast‑paced environment and takes pride in their work.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and support a full range of criminal law matters across all areas under the Criminal Code.Run files independently and anticipate lawyer needs.Prepare, draft, and manage legal documents and court filings.Maintain accurate file management, organization, and deadlines.Liaise with clients, court offices, and third parties as required.Support billing, time entry,
and general administrative coordination.Assist 2 lawyers while maintaining strong attention to detail and prioritization.Ideal Candidate ProfileStrong experience as a legal assistant; criminal law experiencepreferred.Family law experience will also be considered.Confident working independently and managing full files.Highly organized, proactive, and able to think ahead.Comfortable in a role that requires ownership.Strong communication skills and skilled judgment.Experience in a mid‑size or smaller firm environment is an asset.Key RequirementsAbility to manage and run legal files with minimal supervision.Strong understanding of legal procedures and file flow (not just administrative support).Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume practice.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Experience with legal software such as PC Law is an asset (not required).Work Environment100% in‑office role.Parking provided.Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (No regular overtime expected).Supportive, organized, and low‑drama team culture.Collaborative and approachable group of lawyers.Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $60,000 - $95,000, depending on experience.Comprehensive benefits package (above industry standard).Annual discretionary bonus (typically Christmas).3 - 4 weeks vacation to start.We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
