Senior Superintendent: Heavy Civil & Utility Construction

Full-time, Permanent

Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Work with people who treat you like friends.

Imagine an office where everyone is watching out for you because they know you're watching out for them. Our client sees construction as a team sport, so they care about each other as a team. That level of caring filters through investments in local community groups and charities because they also care about the communities they work in.

Our client empowers your personal and professional growth, equipping you with the tools and support needed to create impactful solutions that shape a better future for others.

About our client:

Our client is one of the largest privately owned, family-run energy and infrastructure construction companies in North America, with operations across the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. They're known for tackling complex civil and utility work with solid equipment capability and a genuine safety-first culture, and for keeping their promises to the communities and clients they serve.

Right now there's a strong runway of work behind this hire: multiple projects lined up over the coming years, not a single-project contract. That means real continuity, and real room to build something rather than parachute in and out.

We are currently seeking a Senior Superintendent to take ownership of civil and utility installation projects in the Greater Toronto Area. You'll lead from the field, mentor a team of construction professionals, and help ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with design, budget, schedule and quality expectations. This is a chance to build a bench of work with a company that plays the long game: strong backlog, genuine investment in its people, and the autonomy to run your sites your way.

This position is based in the GTA,

with travel to project sites across the wider region.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Lead civil and utility installation projects from mobilization through completion, keeping work on track with schedules, budgets, and overall objectives.
- Provide day-to-day leadership to site teams, offering guidance, support, and mentorship while promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
- Build and maintain positive client relationships through clear communication, regular project updates, and timely resolution of questions or concerns.
- Coordinate subcontractors, resources, materials, and procurement activities to support efficient and effective project delivery.
- Champion safety and quality on site by reinforcing standards, participating in inspections, identifying deficiencies, and supporting timely corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reporting, change documentation, and other key project records.
- Monitor project costs and expenses, supporting strong financial performance and alignment with budget expectations.
- Collaborate with project managers, field engineers, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders to solve challenges and achieve project goals.
- Uphold company culture and core values, working with others to promote and preserve them while conducting your duties,

contributing to a positive and professional work environment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.

What you bring:

- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Technical Trades certification with direct project leadership experience.
- Strong, progressive experience in heavy civil or utility installation construction (sewer, water, and roadwork experience preferred). Candidates with around 10 years' experience are a strong fit, and those with 5–10 years who can show real ownership and results are genuinely encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated success leading projects with solid safety, schedule, and cost outcomes.
- Comfortable using project management and scheduling tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and people skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
- Proven ability to build strong teams, manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Organized, motivated, and results-driven, with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

What's in it for you:

Competitive total compensation in the range of $130,000–$185,000 CAD, meaningful and challenging work, and an engaging, collaborative setting with a business that's investing in Toronto for the long term.
