This individual will play a key role in driving the company's growth and profitability. The position requires assessing the acceptability of business opportunities in line with company guidelines, including reviewing and pricing new submissions, renewal business, and endorsements. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset to develop strong broker relationships and grow their book of business. In collaboration with colleagues and management, they deliver value‑added expertise and exceptional service to our broker partners. This is ahybrid positionbased in ourVancouver or Toronto office .ResponsibilitiesPerform risk analysis using internal and external data resources for quoting, negotiating,
and authorizing renewals and new business opportunitiesPursue and achieve production targetsTravel occasionally to meet with brokers and promote business opportunitiesDevelop and support professional business partnerships with brokers through prompt service, proactive communication, and solution‑oriented problem solvingLead business development meetings with brokers to strengthen relationships and prospect for recent opportunitiesHandle endorsement requests within delegated authority, independently engaging with brokers to clarify requests or seek missing informationMake decisions based on imperfect informationCommunicate decisions and respond to requests promptly and professionallyBuild and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external parties, including attending industry seminars and networking eventsNegotiate coverage with brokers within delegated authority parametersManage, strengthen, and grow a book of profitable businessMaintain compliance with established corporate guidelines and delegated authority parametersWork independently to meet deadlines and accomplish goalsTake ownership of work‑related activities and follow through on commitmentsDeal effectively with pressure, maintain a positive outlook, and recover quickly from setbacksPrioritize and complete tasks within allocated timeframesTake responsibility for learning and implementing recent ideas, methods, and technologiesDemonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)Exhibit strong decision‑making and analytical skillsMentor and train less experienced team membersThink strategically, formulate objectives, and implement plans consistent with the company's long‑term interestsDocument files ensuring completeness, compliance,
and quality standards while maintaining a paperless environmentComplete loss reports and post‑claim underwriting reviewsQualificationsHave at least 5 years of relevant experience in commercial lines underwriting or brokering with a Transportation backgroundA Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and/or Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation(s) or actively pursuingA valid Broker license or ability to qualify for one within 90 days of employmentProficiency in Microsoft OfficeFamiliarity with legal structures in CanadaExisting industry relationships that can be leveraged to attract business opportunities and grow portfolioAbility to lead business development meetings with brokersBenefitsDental careExtended health carePaid time‑offRRSP matchVision careSalary Range The expected salary range for this position is from$85,000+and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
