We’re looking to add aSenior Estimatorto our Mississauga office to contribute to the growth of our Building operations.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for preparing Estimates for Design-Build and for CM projects. This will include all ‘soft’ budget elements including commentary, assumptions lists, presentation materials etc., as requiredLead on hard bid pursuitsStudy plans and specificationsInterpret the technical specifications of the tender documentsAnalyze and prepare tender documentsDiscuss the working methods to be applied, parts of the work to be subcontracted, risks and constraints of the call for tendersPerform quantity calculationsEvaluate the costs of materials, labor, and necessary equipmentFind prices from subcontractors and suppliersCommunicate with subcontractors and suppliers to confirm pricing, coverage, and cover scope gapsParticipate in mandatory visits and/or client meetings for relevant informationPrepare the review of proposals and ensure that the scope of work is completeConduct site visits, review and approve the preparation of drawings, specifications and other design documents and ensure integration between all disciplinesCommunicating with vendors to obtain bids for materials and services needed for construction projectsCreates and issues tenders for sub-contracting pricingReviewing bids from vendors to ensure compliance with contract requirementsMaintains a costing database for future budgeting and estimatesParticipates in the identification of project risks, mitigating company exposure to them effectivelyDevelop and consider the project schedule as well as construction challenges in all estimatesProactively follows up on RFIs and maintains informationRequirementsA minimum of 5 years of experience in the role of Construction Estimator within a General Contracting (GC) and/or Design-Build GC firm having been the sole or lead Estimator with a clear track record of successfully won projectsBilingual (an asset),



but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is requiredAbility to obtain Secret-level security and Reliability statusWorking knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, estimating, drawings and specifications, building material and required standards applicable to disciplineWorking knowledge of Site Development, Building Envelope and M&E; Systems for ICI facilitiesProficiency in the use of estimating softwareAbility to breakdown a project to elemental scopes of work with both complete sets of project documentation as well as from preliminary conceptual designs. Ability to provide confident and personable service to clients and sub-contractorsAbility to work on multiple estimates of varying size and complexityAbility to estimate high level budgets as well as detailed line-item estimatesAbility to communicate with Project Managers effectively and Site Superintendents to verify scope capture and project plan of the estimateAbility to communicate with engineers effectively and architects to ensure all scopes of work are considered.Possesses effective writing and oral communication skillsDiploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction ManagementPrevious experience supporting projects using Construction Management, Cost Plus, Stipulated Sum, and Design- Build delivery methodsPQS / CEC designation, or working towards it, is considered an assetGold Seal Certification is desirable,
