With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role descriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Materials Lab Technician to join our growing CCIL-certified geotechnical laboratory in Concord. In this role, you will be instrumental in executing field and laboratory testing to support foundation design, construction projects, and site development evaluations. This position will ensure that all subsurface materials and engineered fills meet stringent project specifications and regulatory requirements. By working closely with project engineers and field crews, this position will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance, safety, and operational efficiency both within the laboratory and out in the field.Role accountabilitiesIn this role you will perform comprehensive laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, and asphalt, including sieve analysis and compaction tests, while ensuring strict adherence to CCIL standards. You will be expected to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory and field testing equipment to ensure accurate functionality and prevent operational delays. You will also be responsible for conducting in-situ testing, soil sampling, and assisting with borehole drilling operations during comprehensive geotechnical investigations. Monitoring the placement and compaction of engineered fill materials will be a key duty, which involves conducting field density and moisture content tests.



In this role you will safely handle and operate nuclear density gauges for field compaction testing, always complying with radiation safety protocols and best practices.Additionally, you will implement quality control processes, accurately document real-time test results, and prepare reliable data reports for project engineers and clients. Your attention to detail and commitment to data integrity will support effective decision-making and ensure the quality and reliability of deliverables for every project.Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related fieldExperience: Proven hands-on experience in geotechnical investigations, laboratory materials testing, and field operations monitoringCertifications: Active CCIL certification for Soil, Aggregate, and Asphalt is considered an assetSafety Credentials: Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certification for the proper use and oversight of nuclear gauges is an asset.Technical Skills: Proficiency with industry-specific software (such as gINT and Geo Software), AutoCAD, and the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Word)Professional Affiliations: Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or active membership with OACETT is a strong assetCore Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills,

The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
