HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 138,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more.Join our highly talented team in a culture of learning, innovation, and visionary thinking.The successful candidate may be permitted to work in a hybrid model (combination of in-office and flexible work location) and will live within commuting distance of our Vancouver office.OPPORTUNITYReporting to the Senior Director, Labour Relations, the Team Lead, Labour Relations (Affiliates)
performs a broad range of labour relations services and leadership functions as part of the LSNLR team. The Team Lead ensures their team is supported to succeed in providing high quality labour relations advice to HEABC’s Affiliate members. This position provides guidance and mentorship to labour relations consultants to ensure their continued development. The Team Lead will maintain a servicing portfolio leaving sufficient capacity to ensure they can provide leadership, support and mentorship to the team.Responsibilities include:Providing leadership and managing the work of labour relations consultants on the Affiliate Services team by assisting with litigation and servicing questions.Liaising internally with negotiations, legal services and labour relations teams to coordinate advice and approaches on servicing questions and issues.Advising and mentoring team members on complex labour relations matters.Providing expert advice and guidance to members on a range of labour relations, human rights, and privacy issues; interpret collective agreements, legislation, and policy.Lead and attend hearings (mediations and arbitrations) themselves or to support team members.Required Experience & Knowledge:A degree in Law,
master’s degree in industrial relations, business, or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institutionseven to ten years’ recent, related experience in labour law or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Knowledge of health sector labour relations, related legislation, and collective agreements.Comprehensive knowledge and experience of labour relations dispute resolution processes.Strong leadership and people management skills.Demonstrated ability to lead a team of professionals and provide mentorship.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.Excellent analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.Salary Range:$130,864 to $171,758Typical Hiring Range:$130,864 to $163,579In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity.
