As aSenior Aquatic Resource Specialistwithin a growing team, you will be part of Hatch’s Environment, People, and Place practice, providing a combination of technical expertise in your field of experience, key client relationship management, and guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate colleagues. We collaborate and partner with clients, communities, rightsholders, regulatory agencies, and Hatch’s engineering teams to solve our client’s most challenging problems. The opportunity is unique: Hatch’s wealth of technical engineering expertise combined with exceptional environmental and consultation expertise allows for innovative solutions to the most complex project challenges.ResponsibilitiesLead and grow the revenue and profit of our existing environmental consulting practice with a focus on fisheries and aquaticsLead teams to deliver successful projects requiring Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Fisheries Act Authorizations (including offsetting planning, design, and implementation), Canadian Navigable Waters Act applications, and Water Sustainability Act (WSA) approvals for Changes In and About a Stream. Experience in VFPA jurisdiction an assetIdentify and develop environment, people, and place related business opportunities with new and existing clients working in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectorsProvide leadership, technical direction, peer review,



and advice within our existing environmental consulting practice, focusing on fisheries and aquaticsCoordinate key environmental deliverables on behalf of clients and projectsProvide technical and quality review for client deliverablesParticipate in resource planning and mentorship and leadership of project teamsWork collaboratively with integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising with and supporting global peersRecruit and develop Hatch’s next generation of environmental leadersQualificationsPost‑secondary education in aquatic environmental sciences, marine or aquatic biology, and/or a related discipline8‑15+ years of experience in managing and delivering fisheries and aquatics scopes on major mining, energy, and/or infrastructure projectsIn‑depth understanding of fisheries and aquatics impact assessment, permitting, and regulatory requirements across Canada and within British Columbia. As a global firm, experience in other jurisdictions would be a excellent asset!BC Registered Professional Biologist in good standingDemonstrated business development and client engagement experienceAbility to lead, mentor, and inspire environmental teams,



collaborate with peers and integrate with engineering teamsExperience working on major EPCM projectsWillingness to travel both domestically and internationally as work requiresStrong entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on technical qualitySkilled at managing internal and external stakeholdersClear communication style with the ability to plan, lead, and deliver best in class, high quality deliverablesCompensationBase salary range:$96,000 - $145,000At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
