Manager, Payroll – Finance (Full Time Contract)Location:700 Lawrence Ave. WHiring Salary Range:$78,238 - $85,718Hours of Work:35 per weekThe Role and OpportunityThe Canadian Mental Health Association – Toronto is seeking a Manager, Payroll to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this position leads and develops the accounting team, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations and the delivery of timely, accurate financial reporting. The Manager of Payroll & Benefits is primarily responsible for processing CMHA payroll and maintaining the HRIS (ADP WorkforceNow).About CMHA TorontoCMHA Toronto is the city’s leading community mental health agency. Our goal is to help everyone thrive in the community.Principal Responsibilities and DutiesPrepare all payrolls, salary increases, retroactive pay, direct deposit payments, and employees’ statements of earnings and deductions.Verify that all monthly and hourly employee rates are included on the payroll and notify the People & Culture Director of any exceptions.Compute gross pay and other deductions.Record approved position and personnel documents.Maintain and update records of various types of transactions, such as employee withholding taxes (Income Tax, EI, and CPP), Registered Pension Plan contributions (RPP), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Canada Savings Bond (CSB),



and group insurance benefits deductions.Reconcile withholding taxes (Income Tax, EI, and CPP), group insurance perks, Workers’ Safety and Insurance (WSIB) and employer’s health tax (EHT).Reconcile T4 (Statement of Remuneration Paid).Update and maintain confidential filing systems.Consult and coordinate with People & Culture as needed.Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.Perform general ledger account analysis.Reconcile bank statements as overseen by the Accounting Manager.Maintain payroll registers and other financial records.Enter journal entries into the financial systems.Assist in month‑end closing.Assist in preparation of year‑end working papers.Experience & Education RequiredCMHA Toronto’s ideal candidate will have:Minimum undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.At least three (3) years of intermediate accounting experience with responsibilities of full‑cycle payroll.Experience with an HRIS payroll system, preferably ADP WorkforceNow.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.Ability to adapt, be flexible, and take initiative.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Excellent organizational, problem‑solving,
