The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project is underway to increase capacity, beds, and services by about 50 percent.Benefits include competitive compensation, four weeks vacation in the first year, comprehensive health benefits, and a pension plan.Detailed OverviewReporting to the Supervisor, Radiological Technology and the Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging, the Radiological Technologist practices in accordance with skilled standards and a client and family-centered care model within Fraser Health.The Radiological Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, observes safe radiation protection practices, and handles a range of duties from requisition to patient care.ResponsibilitiesPerforms all general duty radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures consistent with established standards, protocols, and radiation protection practices.Performs requested examinations,



observing departmental standards and radiation protection practices.Completes procedures using appropriate equipment, labels permanent records, maintains and updates records in RIS/PACS, and checks resultant images for technical quality.Explains procedures and provides instructions to patients; answers any questions.Ensures relevant clinical data is collected and documented, recording history and clinical information as required.Prepares contrast agents for examinations and sets up trays; disposes items after the procedure according to hospital policy and cleans instruments for reprocessing.Monitors patient care and safety, ensuring procedures adhere to departmental standards and policies.Participates in quality improvement and risk management procedures and processes.Cleans and tests equipment for status of imaging, viewing, processing, and image recording; performs quality control tests and minor adjustments, and arranges for necessary repairs.Performs a variety of clerical duties related to patient demographics, histories and data entry.Assists in training employees and/or students through orientations, presentations, and answering questions.Participates in approved research and special projects in collaboration with the supervisor and other health professionals.Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs,



using established monitoring and auditing methodologies.Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements and reports unsafe situations to the supervisor or other appropriate personnel.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceCertification with the CAMRT.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including safe work procedures.Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to engage clients, families, co-workers and external agencies.Proficient in operating related equipment.Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Skill in CPR techniques.Computer skills, effectively using a computerized client care information system.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.About Fraser HealthFraser Health is committed to planetary health and values diversity in the workforce.
