Job purposeThe Packaging Mechanic provides technical support by maintaining, repairing, setting‑up, performing machine adjustments to equipment pertaining to the production of Sun drug products including but not limited to filling, packaging and compounding and facilities equipment, and is responsible for the performance of the production lines.Duties and responsibilitiesApply mechanical and electrical knowledge to perform maintenance related activities including but not limited to the set‑up, changeover, operating, troubleshooting, repair of pharmaceutical packaging, compounding, and all supporting auxiliary equipment.Perform preventative maintenance and execute planned repair to improve equipment reliability and packaging efficiency. Ensure all repairs are completed as per the appropriate equipment manuals without deviating from validated parameters, comply with safe lock‑out procedures, impact assessments of any repair, and repair work order documentation.Precisely set up printing and vision inspection system for serialization products.Follow defined processes for MES and SAP.Develop and execute continuous improvement projects focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency.Assist with the training of new hires (line service technicians, operators and mechanics).Provide training and guidance to line operators and line technicians to ensure equipment is operated safely.Provide troubleshooting training to line service technicians and operators to minimize intermittent downtime.Assist with design review and FAT for new equipment and upgrade legacy equipment.Execute validation protocols.Monitor and advise management or mechanic lead hand regarding low stock for critical spare parts and consumable inventory items.Complete GMP documentation accurately in batch records and other relevant GMP documents.Complete all training assignments and maintain personal training records.Program and troubleshoot PLC control systems.Install and program VFDs.Set up, initialize, and monitor control devices.Troubleshoot and maintain drives, electrical controls, electronic circuitry,



and related processes.Update electrical drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy and availability.Execute projects under engineering guidance related to electrical systems.Support implementation of new control systems and applications such as serialization, automations, data backup, etc.Provide support for the installation and upgrade of PLC‑based hardware and software.Identify potential or existing flaws, perform troubleshooting using computer‑aided (CAD) formats.Read and understand electrical wiring diagrams, technical documents, schematic design specifications.Analyze, diagnose, maintain, and repair direct digital control system components.Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day.QualificationsExcellent command of the English language, strong written and oral communication skills with ability to interact with all shop floor employees daily.Sound troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.Understanding of PLC operation (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Elau, Omron, etc.). Ability to read blueprints for input/output modules and exterior devices (switches, push buttons, relay coils, solenoids, etc.). Familiarity with Rockwell Automation Logix5, 500, 5000, Elau Max‑4, Pac Drive systems, and valuable working knowledge of pneumatics.Ability to read and analyze blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals.Strong computer skills with ability to manage full‑cycle processing of work orders.Ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment.Ability to analyze a situation, formulate a methodical approach to correcting the problem, and when appropriate,



escalating the problem to prevent or reduce line downtime.Background and ExperienceDual Ticketed Industrial Electrician (442A) and Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A), with strong industrial millwright background and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a similar role in a pharmaceutical, food and beverage or consumer goods packaging environment.Excellent mechanical aptitude.Problem SolvingAbility to analyze a situation and formulate a methodical approach to correcting the problem.Work as a team with others to formulate a solution.Know when to ask for assistance when the situation becomes too complex to resolve individually.Working conditionsRequirement to work in tight spaces to fix problems.Requirement to be sitting, standing, bending, squatting, and walking throughout the day.Position is a rotating shift (AM, PM, MN or continental) based on 37.5 hours per week. Weekend work required at least twice a month.Overtime required, may occur during the workday and weekend at last‑minute notice.GMP garments required to be worn within the manufacturing environment as directed.Compensation and BenefitsThe presently‑anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $63,000 to $95,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on geographic location and experience. This position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.
