This land is governed by the treaties of Peace and Friendship, first signed by the Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqey, Peskotomuhkatiyik, and the British Crown in 1726. These treaties did not implicate or affirm the surrender or transfer of land to the British, but recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqey title and set the rules for what was to be a long-standing relationship between nations. As part of our strategic priority to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, this is a focused hire for a Black or Indigenous librarian.Liaison responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will take on liaison responsibilities for one or more academic departments. Liaison workloads are reviewed and assigned annually in consultation with members of Research Services.



The anticipated starting portfolio includes liaison responsibility for the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, though subject assignments may evolve over time in response to the library’s needs and the candidate’s experience and interests.Liaison duties include but are not limited to:Developing and delivering information literacy sessions; Providing one‑on‑one research consultations for students and faculty in liaison departments; Collections development and management in liaison subject areas; Maintaining onlineresearch guides for liaison subject areas; Communicating and collaborating with faculty and students in liaison departments.Coordinating responsibilitiesIn addition to liaison responsibilities, librarians at the Vaughan Memorial Library are each assigned a coordinating responsibility. Coordinating responsibilities are specialized areas of work that reflect the priorities and functions of the library and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.Professional activityThe successful candidate will also be expected to participate in scholarly and skilled activity, which may include academic or community‑based research and publication, and participation in academic and professional conferences. The candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and/or indigenization in their work, and the interest and willingness to participate in service and administrative activities within the department, the university, and externally.Salary RangeLibrarian I: $72,359 - $91,959Librarian II: $83,559 - $101,159Librarian III:
