You will work a rotating day and afternoon shift schedule, Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm. A high level of commitment and a “can-do” attitude towards quality.Capacity:Understanding the importance of time management and work ethic towards getting tasks completed to meet necessary requirements with high-quality standards.Your day at Barkman may include:Operating a highly automated production machine that produces pre-cast concrete products such as paving stones, sidewalk slabs and retaining wallsWorking at the quality control station to remove any defective productsFollow daily job travelers to ensure orders are completeAssist with the Total Preventative Maintenance programEnsure that safety policies are followedMaintain quality workmanshipTrack data and information in computer systemDepending on the individual’s motivation,
this role has the potential of expanding into other key machine operator roles within the plantPhysical activities include walking, standing, kneeling, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, using arms/hands to operate equipment, visually distinguishing coloursRequired to wear a hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection at all times and a respirator (which requires an employee to be clean shaven) when needed for specific jobsThe ideal candidate will have:Previous experience in a manufacturing environment running a production machineExperience operating heavily automated production equipmentCapability to lead one to two others if requiredAbility to troubleshoot irregularities on production machineryBasic maintenance experience and a mechanical aptitudeStrong numerical and mathematical skillsComfortable with using computers for entering data and recording informationEffective verbal and written communication skillsFamiliar with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement conceptsExperience using precision measuring tools for quality checksAn eye for detail and colour to create products that meet customer expectationsBasic concrete/precast knowledge an assetBarkman offers you group insurance, a retirement savings plan, product discounts and education subsidies.
