Our belief that every person is born with the ability to succeed in life on their own terms, has enabled us to serve children, youth and adults with disabilities, and their families since 1969, when we were first established as the BC Neurological Association.About the OpportunityWe are looking for a Behavior Specialist for the Provincial Outreach Therapy Program to join our Therapy Services Team. Therapy Services at the BC Centre for Ability includes the Provincial Outreach Therapy Program, the Early Intervention Therapy Program, the North Shore School Occupational Therapy Program, the Community Brain Injury Program, and SET-BC. The Behaviour Specialist will be working as part of a team to deliver behavioural support to communities around the province that are rural, remote or underserved. This position will work with an internal team that may include a Coordinator, a Physiotherapist, a Speech Language Pathologist, and an Occupational Therapist. The internal team will provide both in‑person and virtual support to communities around the province that may include direct service, mentorship or support to the existing team in the communities.This position involves and requires collaborative innovation and learning, to build and maintain purposeful connections and relationships with community leaders, families, local agencies across British Columbia.



The employee should understand the unique context of working in remote and rural regions of the province to meaningfully support children and families of Indigenous ancestry.ResponsibilitiesProvide education and implement behavioural and therapeutic programs using a coaching approach to increase participation at home and in the communityAdminister, conduct, evaluate and supervise behavioural assessments which aid in the designing of positive behaviour support plansUse Evidence Based Practice and a Family Centered approach to deliver behaviour servicesUse a Trauma Informed approach to deliver servicesCollaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support children and families in their communitiesProvide mentorship and education to colleagues around the provinceParticipate in staff meetings, case reviews, medical liaison meetings, and in‑servicesMaintain up to date records that meet agency and regulatory body requirementsTravel to communities throughout the province, frequency based on the needs of the communityCollaborate with community partnersUndertake additional responsibilities as directedQualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceBoard Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) – an accredited graduate degree, proof of coursework in behaviour analysis and a supervised period of practical experienceORMaster’s or Doctoral degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Psychology, or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) from an accredited post‑secondary institutionA minimum 2‑years’ experience working in pediatrics is preferredPrevious experience working in rural, remote or Indigenous communities is an assetKnowledge,
