JOB TITLE: Strategic Sourcing ManagerSalary Range: $80,000 to $100,000Reason: New OpeningGENERAL ACCOUNTABILITYReporting directly to the Supply Chain Director, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, and mitigate risk across key spend categories. This role partners cross‑functionally to align procurement initiatives with business objectives and strategies, ensuring a reliable and world‑class supply base. This role is not a leadership role and does not have any direct reports.Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Develop and implement spend category strategies to optimize cost, quality, delivery, service, and innovationLead end‑to‑end sourcing initiatives including RFPs, RFQs, and supplier negotiationsIdentify cost‑saving opportunities and deliver measurable value (e.G., TCO, cost avoidance)Evaluate and implement initiatives to optimize working capital (e.G., inventory investments and accounts payable), including supplier managed inventory programs, just‑in‑time delivery systems, and negotiating favourable supplier payment termsBuild and manage strong supplier relationships, including performance reviews and scorecardsConduct market analysis to understand and identify supply trends, risks, and opportunitiesCollaborate with internal teams (engineering, operations, finance, etc.) to align sourcing strategiesManage supplier contract negotiations and ensure compliance with legal and company standardsMitigate supply chain risks, including evaluating opportunities to use dual sourcing, inventory strategies, and supplier diversificationSupport ESG, sustainability, and supplier diversity initiatives where applicableContinuously improve procurement processes, tools, and systemsPerform all other duties and projects as assignedSkills and Qualifications:Able to read the Engineering Drawings (e.G. GD&T) and validation plan (e.G.
FAI Plan)Basic understanding of technical specification and manufacturing processesConsistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issuesAbility to work under pressure and meet frequent deadlinesA self‑starter with the ability to set and handle multiple prioritiesExcellent communications skills both written, oral and presentation ability, including a strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with a focus on finding positive outcomesAdaptable and flexible in a changing environmentMust be computer literate – Microsoft Office SuitePossess excellent organizational, analytical, strategic thinking and problem‑solving skillsAnalytical mindset with ability to leverage data for decision‑makingInfluencing and stakeholder managementFinancial acumen (cost modeling, TCO analysis)Supplier relationship management including strong negotiation and contract management skillsRisk assessment and mitigationKnowledge of sourcing tools and ERP systems (e.G., SAP, Oracle, Coupa)Educational/Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field (MBA is an asset)5–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain managementMin. 5 years’ experience working with MRP/ERP system (Dynamics 365 Business Central – considered an asset)Lean manufacturing training and experience considered an assetThis role requires up to 10% travel to support global supplier engagement and strategic sourcing initiativesExperience managing complex categories (e.G., direct materials, indirect spend, CAPEX)Romet Limited is an equal opportunity employer which values diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
