Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and highly organized Accounting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is bilingual, has robust bookkeeping experience, and is comfortable working with QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero.

This position is a combination of Accounting Technician and Accounting Assistant responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the owner and will be expected to provide support wherever needed. We are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

The workload can vary depending on the time of the month and the season. Month-end periods are generally busier, and our busiest period is tax season, which lasts approximately 3–4 months of the year. During these periods, the successful candidate should be comfortable handling a higher volume of work and meeting deadlines.

Work Arrangement The position will become remote after successful completion of the training period.

- Regular periods: Approximately 1 day per week in the office, with the remainder of the work performed remotely.
- Tax season: Approximately 2–3 days per week in the office, depending on workload and business needs.
- Additional flexibility may be required during particularly busy periods, such as month-end and tax season.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for clients using QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts on a regular basis
- Process payroll for clients
- Prepare and submit monthly DAS payments
- Record and organize client reimbursements and expenses
- Assist with tax preparation during tax season
- Prepare T4, RL-1, T4A, and related summaries for clients
- Receive, sort,



scan, and organize physical tax documents and supporting documentation for the tax preparer
- Assist with the preparation and completion of personal and/or corporate tax returns, depending on experience
- Maintain organized and accurate client files and documentation
- Follow up on missing information or documents from clients when required
- Assist with various accounting and administrative tasks throughout the year
- Provide general support to the owner with day-to-day tasks and special projects as needed
- Be ready to step in and assist wherever required to help keep the office and client work running efficiently

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Bilingual in French and English
- Experienced in bookkeeping and comfortable working with Sage and QuickBooks; experience with Xero is an asset
- Comfortable working independently while also taking direction when needed
- Proactive and willing to take initiative
- Able to manage changing priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced workplace, particularly during tax season
- Reliable, professional, and discreet when handling confidential financial and client information
- Willing to take on a variety of responsibilities and assist the owner when needed
- Interested in developing their accounting and tax knowledge
