We have adopted the community problem‑solving approach called collective impact and have committed to working alongside community partners to realize the vision of improving population‑level outcomes for children and youth from cradle to career.Position SummaryReporting to the VP, Programs & Strategic Relations, the Backpacks for Success Program Coordinator supports the implementation of United Way’s summer poverty‑reduction initiatives, including, but not limited to, the Backpack for Success program, which delivers essential school supplies to over 2,000 children and youth across Windsor‑Essex County. The Program Coordinator plays a key role in organizing and delivering community‑based efforts that ensure children and youth have access to critical supports throughout the summer months.Responsibilities include coordinating logistics, liaising with schools and community partners, managing volunteer involvement, and overseeing the intake and distribution of in‑kind donations. The Program Coordinator will also work closely with internal teams, including Donor Stewardship and Engagement, to support community engagement and track program outcomes.



This role will assist with the implementation of the Summer Eats for Kids program as needed.Core Competencies & DutiesCore CompetenciesDemonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectivelyExcels in organization and time management; able to work independently and collaboratively within a teamApplies creative and strategic thinking, exercises sound judgment, and adapts well in energetic environmentsCommunicates clearly and professionally, both in writing and verballyFollows through on projects from initiation to successful completion with attention to detailCore DutiesCoordinate all logistical aspects of the program including packaging backpacks and Summer Eats boxes and delivering them to distribution locationsOversee the intake, sorting, and distribution of in‑kind donations to schools and community partnersWork with partnering organizations to coordinate effortsEnsure policies and protocols are followedCollaborate with schools and youth program providersSupport recruitment and coordination of volunteersTrack program data and create reports as directedWork with donor stewardship team to create activities and events for program supportersTechnical SkillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Comfortable using shared drives and file organization tools (e.G., SharePoint)Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (e.G., Zoom,



Microsoft Teams)Ability to track data and generate basic reports using excel spreadsheets (as asset)Experience with SurveyMonkey or similar online survey tools (an asset)Experience with volunteer coordination platforms or tools (an asset)Education & ExperienceWorking toward a post‑secondary diploma or degreeExperience in delivering programming in the community (ex: as part of an after‑school program or other community‑based activity)Experience working with volunteers (volunteer recruitment experience an asset)Experience working with children and youth (an asset)Must be able to provide a police/vulnerable person checkAs a Canada Summer Jobs‑funded role, eligible applicants must:Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employmentBe a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the immigration and refugee protection act for the duration of the employmentHave a valid social insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulationsContractContract Term : 9-week contract fromJune 22, 2026 – August 21, 2026Hours & Compensation : 35 hours per week at$21.50 per hourDriver’s License : A valid G‑class driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle during working hours.
