Our programmes aim to create a study experience of educational value, of cultural interest, and, of course, full of fun and memories to take home.Our Vancouver summer program is based at The University of British Columbia*. Students receive a combination of 15 hours English language tuition per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. The activity programme will include daytime and evening activities as well as half‑day and full‑day excursions to attractions and places of cultural interest.We are currently looking for staff for contracts of various lengths from end‑of‑June to early August 2026 (programme dates are June 21 – August 9, 2026). A limited number of residential positions are available. Full board accommodation is included in residential position employment packages.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and DutiesThe position of Activity Manager (AM) is a challenging role with a high level of responsibility, suitable for a candidate with excellent leadership, communication, time management and organizational skills. The Activity Manager must be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the operational aspects of a summer camp with students living in residence and homestay.The Activity Manager is responsible for overseeing the full activities program for the Vancouver Junior Programme and managing an activity staff of 15-25 people. This includes booking excursions and activities, coordinating transportation,



managing payments and finances, and liaising with chaperones (Group Leaders) from various countries around the world.In this role you will ensure that our activity leaders have all the tools and instructions required to escort students throughout Vancouver’s top tourist sites and organize entertaining on‑campus activities. The AM schedules and manages payroll for the activities team. You will also be a key point of contact for Group Leaders, who may want to make additions or changes to their schedule upon arrival.ResponsibilitiesPrepare welcome packs for current arrivalsPlan, organize and implement a range of activities suitable for studentsBook and organize cultural excursionsLiaise with college staff to ensure facilities are booked and readyRegularly meet with Group Leaders and college staffEnsure Group Leaders have all relevant information about their activitiesCoordinate transportation for all activitiesEnsure requests from students and group leaders are met promptlyImplement changes from client feedback appropriatelyCreate a positive atmosphere and motivate effectivelyCreate & manage weekly staff schedulesHold daily activity staff briefingsMonitor performance and conduct of activity leadersRespond to emergencies at any timeMonitor outgoing expenditures and ensure all expenses are within budgetMaintain proper levels of student discipline, safety,



and welfareMaintain a professional working relationship with staff and clientsPerson SpecificationsRequirementsCEFR C1+ level of English speaking and writingA thorough understanding and experience of what makes a successful junior or summer programmeStrong communication skills to deliver instructions clearly and effectivelyFlexibility, adaptability, and ability to cope with changing prioritiesA drive to work with fun, like‑minded people to work collaboratively and contribute to team successThe ability to lead and motivate staff to maximize performanceIt would be great if you:Have previous management experience in a language schoolAre familiar with the UBC Point Gray campus and other Vancouver attractionsDisclaimerThis job description is provided as a guide to the role.
