Overview The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the property remains safe, efficient, and in good condition. This role assists and helps oversee daily maintenance activities, preventative maintenance, repairs, and staff supervision while maintaining high standards for guest satisfaction and safety.

Requirements

- 2-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel setting
- Pool Operator Certification Level 1
- Must be able to work weekends
- Leadership or supervisory experience is an asset
- Must have valid class 5 license.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with managing day-to-day maintenance operations of the property, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and staff accommodations.
- Fill in for the Maintenance Manager when manager is absent.
- Ensure that staff are trained and knowledgeable for their assigned tasks.
- Support planning and execution of preventative maintenance programs.
- Respond promptly to work orders and emergencies.
- Help supervise and support maintenance team members.
- Ensure all work is in compliance with safety and code standards, including proper PPE use.
- Monitor and maintain inventory supplies.




- Coordinate with contractors, ensuring work schedule and compliance, as well as quality of work.
- General repairs such as painting, repairing or patching walls and ceilings.
- Basic plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, dry walling as within code.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory records.
- Other tasks as requested by management.

Qualifications

- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electric systems, HVAC, and carpentry an asset.
- Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and diagnostics.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to read and communicate well in English.
- Strong commitment to health and safety polices and procedures and PPE use.

Physical Demands

- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, lift, etc. for extended periods.
- Must be comfortable in confined spaces or working at varying heights.
- Must be able to respond to multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stay calm in emergency or high-pressure situations.
