Program Specialist – School of Construction and Building SciencesProvide individualized academic progression guidance and coaching supports for students in diploma, certificate and apprenticeship programs within the School of Construction and Building Sciences. Program Specialists focus on holistically supporting and empowering students as they work towards achieving their educational goals, applying a Learning Outcomes approach to engage and empower students throughout the student lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individualized, context-appropriate diploma, certificate, and apprenticeship program-specific guidance and coaching to students (prospective, current, and returning) to support academic progression.Provide transactional supports, case management of at‑risk students, and appropriate referrals.Assist students in navigating electronic and other resources.Actively contribute to the enhancement of student‑facing services and business processes.Report on relevant activities.Facilitate outcome‑based information sessions and/or workshops.Collaborate with programs and services at NAIT to facilitate positive student experiences.Maintain student records.Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of student‑centered developmental advising theory.Skilled communication skills: ability to handle inquiries with respect, confidence, and tact.Interpersonal skills: effective listening, emotional intelligence,
and ability to build rapport across diverse groups.Problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills: navigate complex situations with sound judgment and diplomacy.Organizational skills: prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain structure in a dynamic environment.Team collaboration: proven ability to work as a team member and foster collaborative relationships.Adaptability: comfort with change and navigating evolving processes.Technical proficiency: learn and use relevant software and systems to support service delivery.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field (required).Minimum of 3 years of related experience.Experience advising on School of Construction and Building Sciences programming (asset).Experience advising in apprenticeship programs (asset).Equivalent combinations of completed post‑secondary education and related advising experience may be considered.RemunerationSalary range: $60,805.42 – $80,652.00. This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
