We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Yard Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building efficient systems, supporting project teams, and improving operational performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to help shape and grow a centralized equipment and asset management program that supports projects across our organization.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader, a problem solver, and a champion of operational excellence who takes pride in ensuring the right equipment is available, utilized effectively, and maintained to the highest standards.

What You'll Do:

Asset & Inventory Management

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory management and asset tracking system.
- Conduct ongoing inventory reviews and equipment assessments to determine if the equipment is worth keeping in inventory.
- Equipment retention strategies
- Repair and refurbishment opportunities
- Auction or disposal recommendations
- Manage a Green Tag / Red Tag program to support equipment tracking and accountability.
- Establish inventory standards and processes across multiple project sites.
- Partner with project teams to improve inventory visibility and accountability.
- Conduct regular site visits to verify inventory, gather feedback, and identify operational improvement opportunities.

Equipment Rental & Yard Operations
- Develop and maintain efficient processes for internal equipment rentals and transfers.
- Equipment order forms
- Transfer documentation
- Delivery tracking procedures




- Yard communication processes and shared inbox management
- Establish and maintain internal equipment rental rates.
- Improve asset utilization through effective tracking and reporting.

Planning & Project Support
- Develop quarterly forecasting tools for equipment and material requirements.
- Support project startup and planning requirements, including:
- Site branding and signage
- Winter heat programs
- Temporary power plans
- Sea can and storage solutions
- Survey equipment management and calibration schedules
- Work proactively with project teams to ensure equipment needs are anticipated and met.
- Understand and support varying project delivery models, including Construction Management (CM) and Lump Sum contracts.

Safety & Compliance
- Support EllisDon's industry-leading commitment to safety and quality.
- Develop and maintain inspection, certification, and recertification programs for:
- Harnesses and fall protection equipment
- Hoisting and rigging gear
- Fire extinguishers
- Other regulated safety equipment
- Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.
- Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for deployment.

Business Growth & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to expand inventory offerings and improve cost recovery.
- Develop reporting that creates visibility into equipment utilization, revenue generation, and operational costs.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer service.
- Foster strong working relationships with project teams and operations staff.

What You Bring

Qualifications

- Experience in yard operations, equipment management, purchasing, logistics,



construction operations, or asset management.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities.
- Proven ability to develop processes, improve efficiencies, and drive accountability.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business units.
- Experience with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of construction equipment, temporary site infrastructure, and project logistics.
- Experience managing rental fleets, asset utilization, and equipment lifecycle planning.
- Understanding of Construction Management (CM) and Lump Sum project delivery methods.
- Familiarity with equipment inspections, certification requirements, and safety compliance programs.
