OverviewPrimary Purpose:The Safety Advisor is an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) specialist responsible for implementing and managing safety management systems across various colleges and units. This role involves overseeing incident management, conducting investigations, and leading injury prevention initiatives. Additionally, the Safety Advisor develops and delivers safety training programs. This position plays a key role in leading and supporting multiple safety programs and initiatives to meet or exceed regulatory compliance standards, while aligning with strategic goals.Nature of Work:The Safety Advisor collaborates with management, contractors, and other leaders to implement health and safety systems and programs, ensuring regulatory compliance. The role involves working with stakeholders to meet legislative requirements, implement policies and procedures related to health and safety, and promote industry best practices. The Safety Advisor may work in potentially hazardous environments, such as construction sites and trades work areas, and could be required to assist with emergencies both during regular business hours and after hours.ResponsibilitiesImplements and maintains safety management systems across colleges and units, ensuring effective safety practices and regulatory complianceDesigns, develops, and delivers safety training programs to enhance awareness, compliance, and injury prevention across the universityLiaises with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety legislationConducts incident investigations, prepares reports, and implements corrective measures to prevent future incidentsDevelops, compiles, and communicates reports detailing incident and injury statistics to relevant stakeholdersSupports reduction of injury rates within departments and units, with emphasis on priority areasCommunicates effectively with stakeholders, both internally and externally,
