Requisition ID: 32167Division: Global Research and Development DepartmentPosition: Researcher – Sustainable Mining (Permanent Position)Your RoleYour main role will be to support developing research projects related to sustainable mining and by-product circularity. The goals are to increase our understanding of technical pathways to utilize or mitigate the environmental impact of mine tailings, waste rock, and other mining and steelmaking by-products. You will work alongside researchers, engineers, technologists, trades, and manufacturing personnel on these projects.Main RequirementsUniversity degree in Material Science, Mining, Chemical, or other relevant Engineering – advanced degree preferred (Master’s or PhD).Knowledge and preferably experience in mineral extraction and refining, and/or steelmaking primary processes.Ability to perform technoeconomic assessments and feasibility studies on circularity technology.Support and coordinate bulk material sampling, analysis techniques, and interpretation of laboratory data.Knowledge of analytical techniques such as microscopy, ICP, XRF, and XRD for material characterization.Ability to compile data, perform statistical analysis, and report findings on mining and steelmaking process data. Experience in Excel, Python, and/or SQL is an asset.Self‑starter capable of initiating projects and seeing them through to completion with minimal supervision.Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member on cross‑functional projects.Strong oral, presentation, and written communication skills to communicate with a range of groups.Must be eligible to work in Canada.English is standard; a second language, particularly French, is a benefit.Wear mandatory industrial PPE such as hard hat, fire‑protected clothing, lab coat, safety glasses, gloves during R&D work.Support Diversity and Inclusion initiatives at R&D.Nice To HaveComfortable in a heavy industrial/mine setting.Knowledge of mass and energy balance, heat transfer,
