Betrayal Care Therapy

Calgary

Employment type: Contract

Workplace type: Remote

Location: Calgary, Alberta / Vancouver, British Columbia / Toronto, Ontario

About Betrayal Care

Betrayal Care is a Canadian practice working exclusively with betrayal trauma and infidelity recovery. We see individuals and couples across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. Most of our work happens online, and we keep offices in Calgary and Toronto for clients who'd rather come in person.

Focusing on one clinical area is the whole point. Our therapists aren't carrying an infidelity case alongside a grief case and an anxiety assessment. They're building real depth in one thing, alongside a team doing the same.

The role

We're growing our clinical team across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. You'd carry a caseload of individual and couples work involving betrayal trauma, attachment injury, and post-affair relationship distress, handling intakes, treatment planning, ongoing therapy, and your own documentation. Case consultation happens regularly, and you'd be part of it.

Work is virtual. If you're in Calgary or Toronto and want in-person hours, our offices are available to you.

The minimum is three days a week of client availability. Past that, you set your own schedule.

What we handle so you don't have to

Your caseload comes to you. We run the marketing, the intake calls, and the matching, so you're not building a referral network or wondering whether next month fills. Scheduling and billing runs through the Jane App. Consultation and ongoing training in betrayal trauma are part of the role rather than something you fund yourself.

What we're looking for

Current registration in the province where you'll be seeing clients:

- Alberta: Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychologist or Registered Provisional Psychologist
- British Columbia: Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Social Worker, or Registered Psychologist
- Ontario: Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO, Registered Social Worker, or Registered Psychologist

Along with

- Experience delivering trauma-focused therapy, and comfort working with both individuals and couples
- Training in at least one relevant modality, whether that's EMDR, EFT, the Gottman Method, or a comparable relational or trauma approach
- Three or more days per week of availability
- Your own professional liability insurance
- Licensed or license-eligible mental health professional (e.g., Registered Psychologist, Registered Social Worker, Licensed Counsellor) in Alberta, with authorization to practice independently or under supervision.
- Demonstrated experience providing trauma-focused psychotherapy, ideally with clients experiencing betrayal trauma, infidelity, or relational trauma in individual and couples settings.
- Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, EFT, CBT, trauma-informed approaches, or similar relational and trauma-focused therapies.
- Strong clinical assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment planning skills, including risk assessment and crisis intervention when needed.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish trust, maintain qualified boundaries, and work sensitively with diverse cultures, identities, and relationship structures.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, receive and integrate feedback, and contribute to a respectful, growth-oriented clinical environment.
- Comfort with maintaining detailed and confidential clinical records, using practice management or electronic health record systems, and adhering to privacy and regulatory requirements.
- Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related mental health field; prior experience in private practice or outpatient settings is an asset.

Helpful, though not required

Private practice experience, additional betrayal trauma or affair recovery training, and capacity to see clients in a second language.
