The successful candidate’s Fleet Technician level (I, II, or III) will be determined at the time of hire based on their education, licenses, certifications, and relevant experience, in line with the qualifications outlined below.Job Duties IncludeThe responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:Conducts regular maintenance of equipment including performing oil changes, brake replacements, module, actuator and sensor diagnosis and repair, sharpen and replace blades, on-board computer diagnostics, hydraulic pump and hose repairs, electrical diagnostics and repair, etc.Conducts fabrication and repairs to equipment - remove, prepare, weld and finish metal parts and attachments, body work, create load bearing cradles for tank and steamer transport.Installs accessories including electrical wiring, welding, cutting metal, augmenting vehicles and equipment to attach accessories.Perform inspections to meet legislative guidelines.Maintains daily service reports and captures all time and materials.Attends roadside service calls to perform repairs.Purchases specialty parts to repair vehicles and equipment.Qualifications/SkillsFleet Technician I:Licensed as an Automotive Service Technician (310S) OR as a Truck and Coach Technician (310T) must be in good standing.Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a licensed Automotive Technician OR Truck and Coach TechnicianFleet Technician II:Licensed as an Automotive Service Technician (310S)
AND as a Truck and Coach Technician (310T) must be in good standing.Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a licensed Automotive Technician AND Truck and Coach TechnicianFleet Technician III:Licensed as an Automotive Service Technician (310S) AND as a Truck and Coach Technician (310T) must be in good standing, along with an Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) designation in good standing.Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a licensed Automotive Technician AND Truck and Coach TechnicianAll LevelsThorough knowledge of Ministry of Transportation Standards for maintenance and repair, Vehicle Safety Inspections and related legislation (TSSA, CVOR, Air conditioning, Transport Canada).Must be able to operate all vehicles and equipment licensed to work on.Must have Working at heights certification, Aerial lift / Boom truck certification, WHIMIS training, ARC Flash training, Lock out Tag out training, Ozone depletion prevention certificate, Forklift training.Ability to translate vehicle specifications, read parts manuals and wiring diagrams, understand legislation and Transport Canada codes.Proven skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to use automated workorder / timesheet / digital logbooks software.Must have a propane fitters and Inspection certificate.Forklift license.Ontario issued G Drivers’ license in good standing.Ability to provide a current Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to the Town.Nice to HaveEmergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) credentials would be an asset.DZ Drivers’ License would be an asset.Heavy Equipment 421A License would be an asset.Small Engine Certificate (435A) or experience would be an assetWhat is Offered to StaffCompensation: We offer competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of the position.Work Hours: This is a unionized position that works a 40 hour work week.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.M. to 4:00 p.M.
