Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President, Accounting and working closely with the Vice President, Accounting and Controller, you'll play a key role in shaping best practices and processes within our department. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to join our team and help drive our continued success.ResponsibilitiesReview monthly entries, analyze monthly building operating statements and Microsoft Power BI reports for completeness and accuracy for the Operations departmentAnalyze and record capital expenditure accruals quarterly, including interacting with our Property Standards and HVAC departments, to ensure accurate reporting on projectsReview and maintain monthly balance sheet account reporting, including liaising with various departments on status of transactions and balancing to the general ledgerReview and maintain commercial accounts and telecommunication leases including reconciliations and adherence to lease termsReview of semi‑annual comparative building statements in Microsoft Power BIWork with our Senior Financial Analyst in the reporting of the quarterly status of capital expenditure projects with the various departmentsReview and analyze utility consumption and rates for buildings,
identifying any anomalies and communicate findings to our HVAC team for investigationAssist our legal department with review of various rent increases and processing various Orders from the Landlord Tenant Board for rent adjustmentsReview capital expenditure invoices weekly to ensure accuracy and adherence to proper controls and comparing actual spend to approved budgetsReview and help reconcile property tax accountsAssist in the preparation of year‑end audit working papers and lead sheetsAssist our Acquisition's team with analysis and reporting related to building acquisitionsReview bad debt write‑offsReconcile the budget to spending reporting on capital in‑suite expensesPerform a variety of ad hoc accounting duties, including balancing various accounts, and providing support to the financial accounting team as neededProvide input to enhance service relationship, process efficiencies and identify potential compliance issues to the Assistant Vice President, Accounting and/or the Vice President Accounting & ControllerParticipate in projects and additional initiatives as assignedQualificationsPost‑secondary education in finance/accounting is requiredCPA designation is required3+ years of professional experience in finance or accounting is requiredExcellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skillsAbility to work independently, prioritize and work well under pressureHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailProfessional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environmentStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is requiredExperience with Yardi software is an assetAdditional InformationA satisfactory reference check and criminal records clearance are required for this position.
