This is a future vacancy within the organization.No: of open positions - two (2) juniors ($21.00-$23.00) and one (1) intermediate ($24.00 - $27.00)Key Responsibilities:Provide technical services in a field and laboratory environment (geotechnical quality assurance/quality control testing, drill supervision, surveying).Duties include laboratory testing and site inspections and testing of road and buildings construction materials (asphalt, soil/aggregate, concrete), including but not limited to in-situ density testing of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), and Superpave. Sample collection and compaction testing of soil and aggregate. Sampling and testing of plastic concrete samples as per CCIL and project requirements. Subgrade proof roll and evaluations.Perform laboratory testing in accordance with DS Consultants Quality Control SystemUnderstanding test methods and proceduresAnalysis of test data and corrective action to prevent non-conforming productsDocumentation and Data ControlCare and Maintenance of testing equipmentReport any non-conformance concerns to managementPrepare and collect samples for laboratory testing, ensure accuracy of test dataWriting, proof-reading and submitting of quality control inspection and test reportsAble to lift and carry up to 50 lbsEnsure all health and safety programs, policies and procedures are being followed at all timesTravel to sites within Greater Toronto Area and OntarioAlong with any other duties as assigned by managementKey Qualifications, Skills & Education:Civil Engineering diploma,



preferably with a focus on Geotechnical EngineeringCCIL Certifications in asphalt and concrete is an asset1-2 years field experience of soil and asphalt compaction, concrete testing, subgrade evaluationPrevious experience working as a geotechnical technician preferredKnowledge of drilling procedures is an assetAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbsMust own vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid (G-Level) Ontario Driver's LicenseMust be mobile, punctual, and willing to work on a combination of field, lab, and office work, as travel is requiredAble to work in a fast-paced setting, proactively able to respond to time-sensitive issuesExcellent computer skills, proficiency with common industry software is requiredFlexible, well organized, interested in technical and personal advancement, able to carry out assignments with minimal supervisionExcellent interpersonal skills must communicate effectively with team members and clients, strong report writing skills and verbal communication in English are essentialAbout DS Consultants Ltd:DS Consultants Ltd.
