About Us

TechConnect is a growing telecommunications and technology services company delivering commercial telecom construction, communications infrastructure, wireless, fiber and network deployment projects throughout Alberta.

Our work is diverse. One project may involve structured cabling and fiber installation, while the next could involve DAS deployment, wireless radio commissioning, PTP links, 5G infrastructure or commercial construction.

We are looking for experienced, hands-on technicians who enjoy variety, take pride in their work and can operate independently in the field.

The Opportunity

We are looking to add six experienced Commercial Telecom Construction & Commissioning Technicians to our Calgary-based team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with 3–5+ years of relevant experience who wants to expand their skill set and work on a variety of commercial telecommunications and technology projects.

The right person will be comfortable working across multiple disciplines and willing to learn new technologies and construction practices.

Your work may include

- Commercial telecom and communications infrastructure construction
- Conduit and pathway construction and installation
- Structured cabling — Cat5e, Cat6/Cat6A and related systems
- Fiber optic installation, termination, testing and troubleshooting
- Fiber splicing and OTDR testing
- DAS installation and deployment
- Small-cell and wireless infrastructure
- 4G/5G radio installation and commissioning
- Point-to-Point (PTP) wireless installation and commissioning
- Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) systems
- Antenna, radio and equipment installation
- Equipment rack, cabinet and hardware installation
- Cable tray, ladder rack and support systems
- Cable pulling, dressing, labeling and testing
- Telecom room and equipment-room construction
- Reading drawings, plans and project documentation
- Testing,



commissioning and troubleshooting
- Site documentation, photos, test results and closeout documentation
- Working with general contractors, electricians, customers and other trades
- Other commercial telecom and technology construction activities as required

You don't need to be an expert in everything. We are looking for technicians with a strong foundation who are capable of learning, adapting and taking on different types of work.

What We're Looking ForRequired

- 3–5+ years of experience in telecommunications construction, commercial communications, electrical or related technical fields
- Strong hands-on construction and installation skills
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and find practical solutions
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Alberta for project work
- Ability to work safely on active construction sites
- Good written and spoken English
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Experience in any of the following is an asset:
- Fiber optics and fiber splicing
- OTDR and fiber testing
- Structured cabling
- DAS
- Cellular / wireless networks
- 4G / 5G radio systems
- PTP / PTMP wireless
- RF systems
- Telecom shelters and equipment rooms
- Conduit and pathway construction
- Electrical or low-voltage construction
- Network equipment installation and commissioning
- Commercial construction environments
