OverviewAtkinsRéalis Transmission, Distribution and Renewables division has an exciting full‑time career opportunity for experienced Substation Electrical Designer in the field of Transmission and Distribution. The Substation Electrical Designer specialist is required to work within a multi‑discipline team to design and engineer productive and reliable electrical substation and distribution network.Your roleDevelop Electrical Substation facilities (High Voltage and Medium Voltage) including site and bus work layouts, ground grid drawings, lightning protection, cable routing conduits/trench plan, plot plans and elevation drawings for outdoor substation equipment.Assist Design Engineers in developing Switchgear room and Control room layout drawings for substation projects.Assist Design Engineers in preparing Power Single Line Diagram, Relay and Metering One‑line diagram and Communication architectural block diagram, AC three‑line diagram, Elementary Schematics and Wiring diagrams.Assist Design Engineers in preparing Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.Perform peer reviews of drawings prepared by other designers and drafters in the team to ensure compliance with utility and CADD Standards.Work closely with peers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that meets utility, industry, and good engineering practices, policies,
and procedures and maintain complete project documentation for all design packages.Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support the project.About YouAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution with a minimum of 6‑8 years of experience as a designer in the field of Transmission and Distribution Substations.Experience with Hydro One and Toronto Hydro CADD Standards is required, along with working knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise and Electronic Document Management Systems; Autodesk REVTIT experience is an asset.Good written and verbal communication skills.Experience in client interaction and participating in technical discussions is an asset.Reward & BenefitsEnjoy competitive compensation, employee recognition, and a range of flexible benefits you can tailor to your health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle needs. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters including skills, experience and potential impact on the role.
