Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and passionate Indian Chef to prepare authentic, high-quality Indian cuisine while maintaining excellent food quality, cleanliness, and kitchen efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience with traditional Indian cooking, Hakka dishes, curries, soups, salads, buffet preparation, and high-volume restaurant service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes.
Prepare Hakka-style dishes, including noodles, fried rice, Manchurian, chilli chicken, and other Indo-Chinese specialties.
Cook a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries using traditional recipes and techniques.
Prepare fresh soups, salads, appetizers, and accompaniments.
Set up, maintain, and replenish the Indian buffet throughout service.
Ensure buffet items are fresh, properly presented, and maintained at safe serving temperatures.
Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, marinating, and portioning food.
Monitor food quality, taste, consistency, and presentation.
Maintain inventory and inform management of stock shortages.
Follow recipes, portion control, and food cost guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Work efficiently during busy lunch, dinner, and buffet service.
Assist with menu development and seasonal specials when required.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service.
Qualifications
Previous experience as an Indian Chef or Curry Chef in a restaurant or hotel.
Solid knowledge of Indian cuisine, Hakka cuisine, curries, soups, salads, and buffet preparation.
Ability to work in a quick-paced kitchen workplace.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Robust organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Preferred Skills
Experience preparing high-volume buffet service.
Knowledge of tandoor cooking is considered an asset.
Ability to maintain consistent food quality under pressure.
Excellent knife skills and food preparation techniques
Pay: $17.60-$30.00 per hour
