Roof Truss Designer (MiTek)
Location: Edmonton, AB

Overview
Our client is looking for a Roof Truss and Floor Designer with solid MiTek experience to join their team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role focuses on designing efficient, code-compliant roof truss and floor systems for residential, multi-family, and light commercial projects. You’ll work closely with sales, production, and customers to deliver accurate designs that move seamlessly from concept to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
Design roof truss systems using MiTek software (Sapphire preferred)
Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop accurate layouts
Produce truss design drawings, layouts, and material take-offs
Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, engineering standards, and project requirements
Support the sales team with estimates, take-offs, and value engineering opportunities
Communicate with builders, contractors, and internal teams to clarify design requirements
Revise designs based on feedback, site conditions, or cost optimization




Collaborate with production to ensure designs are efficient and manufacturable
Manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and timelines

Qualifications
2+ years of roof truss design experience
Hands-on experience with MiTek (Sapphire strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of structural loads, spans, and building systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred
Experience with floor truss or EWP design
Background working within a truss plant or building materials supplier
Engineering technologist diploma or related education
