Job Title:Facility Maintenance WorkerReports to:Facilities ManagerDepartment:FacilitiesEmployment Type:Part-timeDuration/Term Length:1-year ContractCompensation:$30/hrSupervises:Part-time Operations StaffLocation:Primarily at Progress Campus (941 Progress Ave., Toronto), may require travelling to other campuses as needed.Working hours:average of 20-25 hours per week, 6-8 hours per shift. At least 2-3 shifts on weekdays between 7:30 am – 3:30 pm and available one day on the weekend between 9 am – 5 pm. The Facility Maintenance Worker and the Facilities Manager will work together to create an appropriate schedule based on required duties. Willingness to adjust the working days/hours as required by the business to include being in office outside of operating hours (i.E. work as early as 6:30 am) during events and emergency situations.Job PurposeThe Facility Maintenance Worker is an integral part of the CCSAI, with full accountability and responsibility to the Student Centre and Athletics & Wellness Centre. The Facility Maintenance Worker duties shall be to well and faithfully serve the CCSAI in such capacity and at all times use best efforts to further promote the business of the CCSAI, and, in conjunction with such duties and responsibilities, they shall follow all general and specific directions and instructions from time to time of the CCSAI.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFacilities ManagementAssists the Facilities Manager in the supervision of part-time operations staff in the morning & weekend shiftsPerforms minor maintenance repairs as assigned, including but not limited to painting, light bulbs, doors, plumbing, and grounds keepingGeneral repairs to walls, including patching, sanding & paintingBasic plumbing repairs, including unplugging sinks & toilets, tap, cartridge & valve repairs –Basic electrical repairs, including repairs to receptacles, light switches and ballastsOperates hand tools such as saws, drills, etc.Performs cleaning and sanitization duties across facilitiesFacility grounds maintenance, including lawn cutting, snow removal,



etc.Responds to urgent maintenance requestsConduct preventative maintenance tasks on facility equipment outlined by the Facilities Manager and coordinates safety/fire system inspections with VipondBe an on-site contact for daily operations, such as coordinating and assisting with set up & tear down for events in the facilities, vendor/rental set-ups and service requests, etc.Assists facility’s daily opening/closing proceduresReports to the Facilities Manager for any requisitions of facilities, supplies and materialsBe an on-site contact for contractorsOther position-related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager and the Director, Finance & AdministrationAssists the Facilities Manager in monitoring building operations and reports issues appropriatelyEnsure facilities are maintained consistently with best practices and reports to the Facility Manager of any necessary requirements to ensure the safety of all who access the facilitiesOther duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager and/or the Director, Finance & AdministrationGeneral AdministrationWith the Facilities Manager, coordinates part-time operations staff hiring, training, and work shiftsComplete checklists and maintenance logs for facility equipmentComplete accident/incident forms as required for people and propertyMust adhere to the CCSAI Code of Conduct, in compliance with the Centennial College policies, and the Ontario Human Rights CodeAttend training, facilities meetings, staff meetings and other College meetings as delegated by the managers, Director, Finance & Administration and/or the Executive DirectorBe conversant with, and fully adhere to, the bylaws, rules, regulations,



policies and procedures of the CCSAI, the College, and the Ontario Human Rights CodeQualificationsEducation/TrainingCollege diploma in facility management, maintenance, or a related field is preferredCertification in plumbing, electrical work and HVAC will be an assetStandard First Aid/CPR, WHMIS 2015, Working at Heights, Fall Protection, and Aerial Work Platform certifications are an assetExperienceA minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in facility operationsPrior work experience in multipurpose or public buildings is an assetFamiliarity with sport facility setup, i.E. basketball, volleyball, badminton, etc.Specialized KnowledgeKnowledge of relevant industry-related legislation, regulations and the OH&S; ActKnowledge of various facilities and building systems, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.Experience using tools/equipment common to the tradesUnderstanding of technical manuals and ability to read blueprints and technical drawingsFacilities-related software, i.E.
