Job Summary The Center Director oversees the daily operations of an early childhood education and care center, ensuring a secure, nurturing, and engaging environment for children with diverse needs. This leadership role involves managing staff, developing educational programs, and fostering strong relationships with families and the community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for working with children, experience in early childhood education, and a commitment to inclusive caregiving practices.

Duties

- Act as Program Supervisor, as defined by the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulation.
- Manage and coordinate program operations as assigned by the Board.
- Plan, organize, control, and evaluate the overall operations of the program to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and regulatory standards as set out by the Province of Alberta and/or the City of Calgary.
- Apply sound human resource practices and procedures, creating a climate of care, trust and respect by demonstrating caring behaviors, taking steps to build partnerships, providing support and guidance, and encouraging open communication between all stakeholders, including the children, where the Director will work part of their day in direct ratio.
- Build the capacity of the program services to provide high-quality inclusive children's programs that consider the developmental needs of the whole child.
- Keep up with emerging trends in the field and reconcile these with the approach and content of the programs provided by the program
- Be accountable to the program's Board, staff, children,



parents, regulatory bodies, stakeholders and community. It is their responsibility to demonstrate accountabilities within the staff team and in everyday practice.
- Anticipate and plan to prevent or minimize potential risks to the program communicate potential risks to the License Holders, staff, children, stakeholders and parents, take the appropriate security measures to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

- Certified by Alberta Child Care Staff Certification Office, as a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator.
- Current Child Care First Aid Certification
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Record Check must be provided to the License Holder before commencement of employment
- Proven classroom experience in early childhood education or related settings.
- Experience working as a daycare center director
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and educational best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage staff effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with children, families, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to develop inclusive curricula that accommodate diverse learners.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Experience

- Daycare Center Director: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:
- ECE Level 3 Certificate (required)
- Child Care First Aid Certification (required)
- Food Safety Certification (preferred)
