At OCWA, we have a deep respect for the environment and our responsibility for the health of the communities we serve drives us.In this role, you will maintain related equipment in an advanced Class 4 wastewater treatment facility.This position will require you to oversee, operate, inspect, maintain and carry out repairs on complex and advanced water and wastewater system equipment, such as mechanical and electrical valves, centrifugal pumps, chemical systems, and process control equipment. In carrying out these duties at the various water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, you will have the opportunity to work independently or when required, to work with a dedicated and skilled team.Equipped with personal protective equipment you will need to be able to work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, dirty and/or noisy environments and have physical dexterity. In water / wastewater facilities, physical dexterity includes but is not limited to: walking, standing, sitting, lifting floor to waist, lifting waist to shoulder, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, stair climbing, ladder climbing, pushing, pulling, carrying, handling, fingering, reaching forward, reaching overhead.**Mandatory*** Ability to obtain Trades license as a Millwright and/or other trades certificates required.* Must have a Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP)* Ability to obtain Operator in Training (OIT) in the appropriate discipline as per the applicable regulation (O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act).* Valid Class G Drivers licence.* Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule and be available to work on an on-call basis.**Knowledge*** Excellent knowledge of the processes,



procedures and equipment used in the relevant advanced wastewater or water treatment operations/distribution and collection systems.* Knowledge of all relevant acts and regulations to ensure operational compliance.* Knowledge of industrial maintenance and repair processes of a variety of equipment and structures such as: hydraulic, electric and mechanical plant equipment such as: gauges, pumps, valves, fittings, piping, tanks, heating boilers, incinerators, high pressure vessels, hydraulic ram pumps, centrifuges, UV membrane, Gen-Sets, Liquid Oxygen etc.* Thorough knowledge to operate, inspect, clean and maintain them by conducting scheduled maintenance practices and recordings.* Thorough knowledge, experience and ability to work in an environment using hazardous chemicals associated with the water/wastewater treatment processes.* Knowledge of procurement principles and best practices to purchase equipment and services from vendors and suppliers.* Must possess a thorough knowledge of computers including operation of various software programs and computerized monitoring systems, such as SCADA, CMMS and overall computer literacy to record data from inspections and monitor activities to complete work orders and project forms to initiate repairs for maintenance.**Skills and Ability include*** Demonstrated team leadership skills to direct, mentor and guide staff.* Judgement and decision making skills to provide direction to staff on projects, work and priorities.* Interpersonal skills to provide direction, advice and recommendations to management, contractors, equipment suppliers, project staff and other Agency personnel.* Problem solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and make timely decisions to address work priorities and emergencies.* Ability to correct operating discrepancies; to trace abnormalconditions or noise; to report major deviations or conditions that do not respond to normal corrective actions; and to determine from several choices the method to restore normal operating conditions.* Good oral communication skills to report equipment problems or malfunctions in order to ensure the problem is conveyed and understood, and to provide direction for corrective response.* Good written communication skills to write reports.* Ability to read and interpret blueprints engineering drawings and follow process drawings to aid in troubleshooting equipment problems.* Ability to use and understand operating and maintenance manuals, and other technical specifications.* Physical dexterity to perform job duties in all weather conditions,
