Company Description Valued Connections Healthcare (VCHC) provides case management, education, and system navigation services to help individuals and families access appropriate health and community supports. The organization focuses on guiding clients through complex care systems and connecting them with resources that meet their unique needs.
VCHC offers services Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST, and can be reached through a toll-free number or online at MyVCHI.org. As a mission-driven organization, VCHC values collaboration, advocacy, and equitable access to care for diverse communities.
Role Description
This is a volunteer hybrid role for a Board Member, located in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada.
The Board
Member will be responsible for participating in board meetings, providing strategic guidance, overseeing organizational policies, and ensuring the financial health of the organization. They will also be involved in fundraising activities, advocating for the organization’s mission, and supporting community outreach efforts. Collaboration with other board members and stakeholders to drive the organization's success is part of the role's responsibilities.
Board
Members are required to meet monthly, and make a donation of any amount.
VCHC remains in a building mode - and is looking for people interested in growing with us.
Qualifications
Experience in governance, leadership, or board service, with the ability to provide strategic direction and oversight.
Knowledge of healthcare, social services, case management, or system navigation, particularly within the Greater Toronto Area or Ontario context.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to review policies, budgets, and organizational performance.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices, with sensitivity to the needs of wide-ranging communities.
Availability to attend regular board and committee meetings, and to contribute time to board initiatives on a full time volunteer basis.
Prior experience in fundraising, community engagement, legal, finance, or risk management is an asset.
Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent qualified experience in health, social work, business, law, or public administration is beneficial.
